The Parent Teacher Association of St. Xavier’s H.S.S. Mapusa held its Annual General Body meeting recently at the St. Xavier’s Ark hall. The Guest Speaker for the day was Mr. Nicholas D’Souza former Associate Professor of Bachelor of Education from the Nirmala Institute of Education, Panaji. Mr. D’souza spoke on “Parenting in Present Day and Time.” He highlighted on the importance of a peaceful atmosphere at home and trust and encouragement to help a child to grow to his full potential.

The Chairperson Mr. Salim Isani read the report of activities for the year 2016-17. Mr. Sandeep Valawalkar a member of the P.T.A. appreciated the work of the PTA in the institution for undertaking various activities in order to take education to a holistic level. He requested parents to put in efforts in helping the school with their various drives to enhance education.

The Principal Dr. Elvis Gonsalves addressed the gathering by commending the staff and congratulating the parents and students for the excellent results at the Goa Board HSSC 2017 exams. With an overall pass percentage of 98.92% and an all time high of 328 distinctions, the Principal motivated the students to do better at the upcoming examination. He also highlighted the projects undertaken by the P.T.A. during the last academic year and informed the parents of the new Innovation block and displayed the proposed blueprint of the block. He also informed the parents about the availability of the school counsellor. The Principal humbly appealed to the parents and their children to involve themselves wholeheartedly in all the activities of the School.

This was followed by the reading of the Minutes by the Secretary Ms. Rita D’Silva. The Treasurer Ms. Juliana De Souza presented the accounts.

The outgoing members were felicitated by the Chief Guest Mr. Nicholas D’Souza  and the Administrator of Assets Fr. Agnelo Fernandes. Ms. Magret Dias, Vice-Principal of the General Stream, introduced the New Committee members for the Year 2017-2018.

The vote of thanks was proposed by the Parent Member Mrs. Sara Tar.
